Why you'll love it
A journey shaped by the mountains, not by a schedule.
The Everest Three Passes Trek is the ultimate trekking circuit in Nepal’s Everest region. Designed for experienced and physically prepared adventurers, it crosses three spectacular Himalayan passes—Renjo La at 5,360 metres, Cho La at 5,420 metres and Kongma La at 5,535 metres.
Unlike the standard Everest Base Camp route, this itinerary explores both the quieter western valleys and the famous central Khumbu trail. The journey passes through Namche Bazaar and the traditional settlement of Thame before entering the remote valley around Lumde.
After crossing Renjo La, the route descends toward the turquoise Gokyo Lakes. A sunrise hike to Gokyo Ri provides panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and the Ngozumpa Glacier.
The trek then crosses the glacier toward Thaknak and tackles Cho La, a demanding pass connecting the Gokyo Valley with the main Everest Base Camp trail. From Lobuche, the journey continues to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp beside the Khumbu Glacier.
An early climb to Kala Patthar offers one of the finest close-range views of Mount Everest. The final and highest major challenge is Kongma La, which connects Lobuche with Chhukung in the Imja Valley.
Crossing all three passes requires endurance, confidence on rough terrain and the ability to walk for seven to nine hours at high altitude. Snow, ice and rapidly changing weather can increase the difficulty considerably.
Himalera’s itinerary includes acclimatization in Namche, gradual progression through the western Khumbu and support from an experienced local trekking team. This is not simply an alternative Everest Base Camp route—it is the complete Everest high-pass experience.
Cross three legendary passes and find your era in the Himalayas.
